Shawlands Dance Group wins Evening Times award 
 
 

The Shawlands Academy Dance Group won the Glasgow Community Champion Awards at the St Francis Centre in the Gorbals on Thursday, 21st January.

Lord Provost Bob Winter, Ruaraidh Nicolson Assistant Chief Constable of Strathclyde Police and Evening Times Editor Tony Carlin presented the awards on the night.

Ms Abbasi, the Dance Group's Founder and Choreographer said: “It’s wonderful to have won tonight, the dance group gives the young people skills they can use in later life as well as keep them fit and active.

Our congratulations to Ms Abbasi and all of the members of the Dance Group.

Dance and INDIE group perform at HMiE conference

 

  
                    
 
On Tuesday 3rd November, the Shawlands Academy Dance Group and INDIE performance group performed at the HMiE conference at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glasgow. Previously, the INDIE (Inclusion and Diversity in Education) group's activities had been highlighted by HMiE inspection staff as being an area of particularly good educational practice.
