Glasgow City Council Welcome to Shawlands Academy

BT Raspberry Pi Workshop October 2014

On Friday 24th October, Applications Developers from British Telecommunications (BT) visited the Technologies faculty to deliver a BT Robolympic Raspberry Pi Workshop to S2 pupils.

Our pupils learned how to plan and design a computer program, connect and program the Raspberry Pi hardware to network PCs and evaluate their finished work.

The Raspberry Pi is a low cost, credit-card sized computer that plugs into a computer monitor or TV, and uses a standard keyboard and mouse. It is a capable little device that enables people of all ages to explore computing, and to learn how to program in languages like Scratch and Python. It’s capable of doing everything you’d expect a desktop computer to do, from browsing the internet and playing high-definition video, to making spreadsheets, word-processing, and playing games.

The Raspberry Pi Foundation is a registered UK educational charity. The Foundation’s goal is to advance the education of adults and children, particularly in the field of computer science.

We would like to thank the staff from BT for donating their time to our school and for providing such a rewarding educational experience for our pupils.
